I also have a high speed connection, and though it takes a long time to download MPEG2 files it doesn't take as long as you are describing. How fast is your connection? What speed is your download software reporting? Is that speed constant or does it vary?

Every last one of the MPEG1 files are all at that insane 320x240 with that hideous green background which causes pixels when attempting to view or otherwise use.

I'm not sure what you mean by "hideous green background". What software are you using to view these files? Can you point specifically to an MPEG1 file that you are seeing this with?

What format would you like to see provided? I can imagine a higher bitrate mp4 being provided (perhaps also the encoding settings could be tweaked a bit). I doubt the Archive would (or should) transcode to any of the proprietary formats (wmv, qt, real).

For most of the feature films the MPEG2 file is taken right off the DVD with no reencoding, it is the best available copy, thus best suited for archiving. I don't think that will change, but a better lower bitrate lower quality copy probably could be made.

On the no sound problem, have you tried using VLC? I'm guessing you're preferred player doesn't have an ac3 decoder. Download VLC at videolan.org.

okay... I have the VCL player and "yes" they played on that. They did not play on nor render on the Pinnacle Studio 9.4.3.70 which (in the event you don't know) DISNEY STUDIOS uses this program so it is not sub-par consumer product. Most "Joe-Average" wouldn't know how to work two-thirds of what is on this program. My DL is approximately 89.4kbps and has topped out even higher than that. What I would like to see is this: A more usable MPEG-2 File Size and/or the MPEG-1s at 352x240 so that it can be rendered and properly read by programs that know how to read a proper 352x240 MPEG-1 file. The Green Stuff is only on the MPEG-1 files. Try Downloading anyone of them even a Superman Cartoon. Next put that into a rendering program and look at the viewing window. What do you see?
I have three different programs and they all show that GREEN SCREEN. When you hit play, it pixels and making anykind of a render from that is impossible. Finally, it would be a BIG HELP if you would denote the Audio Structure of the film so that if anyone want's to do more than just watch it, they know in advance of doing a 29 hour download if the sound is MPEG-Layer3 or whatever it is.
